About this policy
This policy explains how Chill Vinyl (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use our iPhone and iPad app, visit chillvinyl.com, or contact us. For privacy questions and requests, email support@chillvinyl.com.
Privacy at a glance
Chill Vinyl does not require a separate account. The app does not include advertising, analytics, tracking tools, or third-party crash-reporting services. We do not upload your imported music, library, listening history, or app preferences to our servers. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
Apple Music is optional and processes information separately under Apple’s policies. Information you send to support and technical information handled by website hosting are separate from the app’s on-device music experience.
Music and information on your device
Chill Vinyl uses the music files you import, associated track information and artwork, and settings needed to provide the listening experience. This information is handled on your device to display your collection, play your music, and remember your choices, rather than uploaded to our servers.
Files selected from cloud storage and device backups you enable are governed by the relevant provider’s settings and policy. Backups may include app data, depending on your settings; this is separate from an upload to Chill Vinyl.
Optional Apple Music connection
If you authorize Apple Music access, Chill Vinyl uses Apple’s music services to provide the features you choose. Authorized access can include subscription status, library and playlist information, recommendations, and listening activity made available by Apple. Authorization does not give us your Apple Account password.
Apple may process account, device, IP address, search, and playback information to deliver and personalize Apple Music, improve its services, prevent fraud, and account for royalties. If you separately enable Apple’s Sync Library, Apple may process library metadata and upload unmatched tracks under that feature. This does not mean Chill Vinyl uploads its imported files to Apple.
Apple determines its own retention, sharing, and privacy controls. This summary does not replace Apple Music & Privacy or Apple’s Privacy Policy. Review those notices for full details and current choices.
Permissions and your choices
You can decline Apple Music access and listen to your own imported music. Review or revoke Chill Vinyl’s Media & Apple Music permission in your device’s privacy settings. Revoking permission prevents further authorized access through the app; it does not cancel your subscription or delete information Apple already holds.
Manage your Apple Music privacy settings, subscriptions, and Apple-held information through Apple. Chill Vinyl cannot delete information from your Apple Account on your behalf.
Support communications
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any information or attachments you choose to provide. We use them to respond, investigate issues, and handle privacy requests. Our email provider processes these communications to deliver and store them. Please do not send passwords, payment information, or unnecessary sensitive details.
Website information and cookies
The Chill Vinyl website does not include advertising trackers or analytics scripts and does not itself set advertising or analytics cookies. The hosting provider may process ordinary connection and security logs, including IP addresses, requested pages, browser information, and request times, to serve and protect the website. Hosting infrastructure may use technical mechanisms needed for delivery or security.
External websites linked from Chill Vinyl, including Apple websites, are governed by their own privacy policies.
Sharing and disclosures
We do not provide your on-device music collection or listening history to advertisers or data brokers. Hosting and email providers may process the limited information described above to operate those services. We may disclose information we actually hold when legally required, to respond to valid legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or service security. This does not give us access to information stored only on your device.
Retention and deletion
Local app data remains until it is removed or the app’s storage is deleted. Deleting the app removes its local storage; offloading may preserve that storage. Original music files outside the app and copies in cloud storage or backups may remain and must be managed separately.
We retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to address requests, maintain necessary support records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. Website logs follow the hosting provider’s retention practices. You can request deletion of information we hold by emailing us. We honor applicable requests unless retention is required or otherwise permitted by law. Apple’s retention rules apply independently to information it processes.
Security and international processing
We take reasonable steps to protect support information we handle, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure. Protect access to your device and backups.
Hosting, email, and Apple services may process information in countries other than your own. Applicable protections depend on the service and relevant law. Contact us about information handled on our behalf; Apple’s notices describe its international processing.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. You may also have a right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Send requests to support@chillvinyl.com. We may need limited information to verify a request. We cannot retrieve information stored only on your device. Requests concerning Apple-held information should be directed to Apple.
Children’s privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If you believe a child has sent us personal information in a support message, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate. Apple’s account and family privacy rules apply to Apple Music.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Chill Vinyl changes. The effective date above identifies the latest revision. For material changes, we will provide notice and obtain consent where required before using information in a new way.
